Placement Prep Subject Expert, AptiEdge

Ex-TCS Talent Acquisition Lead

Taught by someone who has actually screened the candidates.

Karthik spent 6 years on TCS's campus recruitment team, screening and interviewing over 4,000 candidates across NQT drives before moving full-time into placement training in 2022.

His approach focuses on the sections candidates most often underestimate — Verbal Ability and the Pseudo-Code/coding round — the two areas that quietly eliminate the most candidates before they ever reach the interview stage.

Study Plan

60 days to placement.
Here's the structure.

Days 1–15

Foundation

Cover every topic in Quant, Reasoning, and Verbal at least once. Take your first mock at the end of week 2 to find your baseline — don't worry about the score yet.

Days 16–30

Company-Pattern Practice

Switch to company-specific mocks — TCS NQT, Accenture, Capgemini. 2 mocks a week. After each one, log which topic type cost you the most marks.

Days 31–45

Coding & Technical Rounds

Add daily pseudo-code and technical MCQ practice for Capgemini, Amdocs, and Cognizant patterns. Start preparing your HR answers in parallel.

Days 46–60

Mock-Led Final Sprint

One full mock every day in the final two weeks. No new topics. Revise your error log, polish your HR pitch, and do at least 2 mock GDs with friends.

Placed at TCS — TCS Ninja

TCS NQT Score: 185/198

"I was weak in the Verbal section, and TCS NQT has a strict sectional cutoff. AptiEdge's daily targets made me practice English every single day for a month — that's the section that got me through to the interview."

3 offers in one season

"I cleared TCS NQT, Accenture, and Capgemini in the same placement season. Practicing under a timer on AptiEdge's mocks is what made the real tests feel calm instead of rushed — I finally chose Capgemini for the project profile."

DevOps Engineer at NatWest, Mumbai

Selected via off-campus drive

"Aptitude was never my strong area — I'm from a mechanical background. The structured daily practice and section-wise analytics on AptiEdge helped me close the gap in 2 months and land a DevOps role at NatWest in Mumbai."

FAQ

Common questions about placement prep.

TCS (NQT), Accenture, Capgemini, Amdocs, and Cognizant — with more IT services and product companies being added based on student requests.
Most IT services aptitude tests (TCS NQT, Accenture, Capgemini) do not have negative marking, but a few company drives do — always check the specific instructions on your test day.
Not for the aptitude round itself — Quant, Reasoning and Verbal need no coding knowledge. The pseudo-code and technical MCQ sections (used by Capgemini, Amdocs, Cognizant) test logic more than syntax, and our daily targets build that up gradually.
Clearing the sectional cutoffs in every section matters more than a single high total — TCS NQT screens out candidates who score very low in even one section, regardless of overall score.
Yes — the platform includes curated HR question banks and Group Discussion preparation material alongside the aptitude and technical practice.
New company-pattern mocks are added regularly as placement seasons begin — check the Mock Tests section after signing up for the latest count.
